Imboni Academy used to work in cohorts. A group of students joined, we taught them, they graduated, and the next group began. It worked, and we are proud of it. It also had a quiet flaw: it only helped the people who were in the room.
So we asked ourselves a different question. What if nobody had to be in the room?
We are now building a free online school for anyone who wants to learn: the young person who dropped out, the adult who never had the chance, the parent who wants to study again, the person who simply cannot sit in a classroom for any number of reasons. If you want to learn, you should be able to start, today, without paying and without asking permission.
Why free? Because cost is the most common reason a good idea does not reach the people who need it most. A small fee sounds harmless. For a family counting every franc, it is a wall. We would rather keep the door open and find another way to carry the cost.
Why online? Because it removes the three things that quietly exclude people: distance, timetable and shame. An online lesson can be watched at night, repeated ten times, and studied without anyone watching you struggle. That last part matters more than it sounds. Many adults who left school did not leave because they were unable. They left because they felt embarrassed. A private screen is a gentler classroom.
We are starting where we are strongest. There are free SAT lessons, one for each of the 29 skills on the digital SAT. There is Imboni Voice, where mentors, universities and organizations share trusted information directly with students. Over time we want to add more subjects and more ways to learn.
We know this is a long road, and we are honest about how much we still have to build. What we can promise is the direction: free, open, and built around the people who were left out the first time.
If this matters to you, you can help. Join as a student, offer to mentor, or support the school so that it can stay free.
